Tennis Elbow

This condition is an inflammation of the muscles and tendons which extend or bend back the wrist and fingers. Pain will occur on the outside of the elbow. The injury occurs when the forces on the muscles become greater than the strength of the muscles. It is most common in individuals who play golf or racquet sports, although it can also occur in anyone who uses the arm or wrist excessively i.e. using the mouse on the computer.

The injury is caused by:

  • weak muscles
  • lack of flexibility in the muscles
  • overuse of the arm or playing excessive sports
  • improper technique of swing or inappropriate equipmen i.e. incorrect grip size or racquet strings too tight

If you have pain on the outside of your elbow following activity apply ice for 10-15 minutes, rest and make an appointment for a proper assessment and treatment. The sooner you treat your injury, the faster and easier your recovery.

The injury is caused by:

  • weak muscles
  • lack of flexibility in the muscles
  • overuse of the arm or playing excessive sports
  • improper technique of swing or inappropriate equipment i.e. incorrect grip size or miss hit in golf
